Animal Park Bavarian Forest - Wildlife enclosure Bavarian Forest
Embedded in the multifaceted forest landscape 16 spacious enclosures and aviaries were gradually set up on an area of approx 250ha, which were then interconnected and called Wildlife Enclosure in the National Park Cente Lusen.
There, at the moment 36 different species of endemic birds and mammels are living. The spacious enclosures (only the enclosures are as large as 40ha) with a close to nature setting allow their inhabitants to live in accordance with their native daily rythms – running, climbing, having a bath, sleeping and even totally retreating if desired.
Before you start your tour through the wildlife enclosure, it is recommendable to get the latest information in the visitor centre „Hans Eisenmann-Haus“. There, you can obtain from our competent personnel, information concerning our guided tours programme or individual advice how to make your visit perfectly designed for you.
How to get there:
The main entrance is from the car park P1 (Kreuzstraße) not far from the visitor centre „Hans Eisenmann-Haus“ at Neuschönau. Further entrances are from the car parks at Altschönau or Böhmstraße. No entrance fee is charged for the wildlife enclosure, however, the car parks are subject to charges!
You reach the car parks and entrances to the wildlife enclosure either by car, during the holiday season from 15 May to 4 November by bus (within the National Park region by the so-called Igel Bus system), by bike or from the nearby villages even by feet.
The wildlife enclosure is open all year and is accessible day and night, in winter, trails are cleared of snow and gritted! The visitor trails are very well signposted and also apt for buggies and wheelchairs.
