Goethe in Weimar - World Heritage and classical Weimar
Because of the foundation of Bauhaus Weimar and working of Goethe in Weimar almost everything is under protection of UNESCO.
Since 1998 the "classical Weimar" has been on the World Heritage's list with 11 sites, because its famous role as intellectual center of Germany in the 18th century (e.g. Town's Castle, Wittumspalais, Anna-Amalia-Library, Belvedere Castle, house of Goethe in Weimar, Schiller House - s. pictures Weimar).
Goethe Weimar: The names of Goethe, Weimar and Schiller are well connected. The famous Goethe in Weimar was in reality a little bit smaller than Schiller and as shown at the Goethe Schiller statue. Those both guys are on the most pictures of Weimar.
Weimar got a second UNESCO World Heritage „Bauhaus Weimar und Dessau“ thanks to Walter Gropius, who founded the Bauhaus Weimar in 1919, one of the most important art- and architecture schools of the 20th century. The Bauhaus Weimar aimed to connect all arts in ideal unity, with clearness, objectivity and advisability.
Famous artists such as L. Feininger, P. Klee und W. Kandinsky joined the Bauhaus Weimar movement. Under the pressure of the Nazis the Bauhaus Weimar was closed and moved to Dessau in 1925.

In 1775 Duke Carl August invited from Frankfurt the studied lawyer Goethe to Weimar, where Goethe assumed some political functions, e.g. leadership of war commission - Goethe in Weimar was prime minister in principle. But his tendencies were research, art and literature, which let him write world literature.

Starting with his youth love Gretchen, Charlotte von Stein, Marianne von Willemer, Charlotte Buff and some more - all loved him and influenced his works.
In 1805 only Christiane Vulpius got married with Goethe in Weimar and gave birth to five children, but only one of them survived infancy.

Goethe Weimar: You can find the garden house of Goethe in Weimar in the romantic "Park on Ilm river", which was created by Goethe after his Italy trip. Here you find lots of motives for your romantic pictures of Weimar.
- Goethe Weimar history: Visit the Goethe House and learn where Goethe in Weimar has been living and studiing for 47 years until he died there in 1832, aged 82. - Highlight Goethe Weimar: Already in Goethe's time the park at the river Ilm was a nice place to relax, whose design Goethe influenced himself. Inspired by his Italian travel he even let build an artificial ruin and the Roman House. - Closest friend of Goethe in Weimar was Friedrich Schiller - just nearby the Museum of Bauhaus Weimar, you find the Schiller House in the Schiller street No 12, which is original equipped. Only 50 minutes away from World Heritage Bauhaus Weimar and the places of Goethe and Weimar, you find the next World Heritage "Wartburg Castle". Here Martin Luther translated the Bible into the words we know today.
- Day trips Weimar: If you finally have enough pictures of Weimar and have seen everything, a day trip to Erfurt (15 min by car) would be a great idea. Or go further to Eisenach with the Wartburg Castle, which is less than one hour from the sights around Goethe, Weimar and Bauhaus Weimar away.
