In 1845 Prince Ludwig II was born in Nymphenburg Castle of Munich; he was brought up strictly and loveless, was attracted by arts and retreated into his world of dreams. Aged 18 he acceded to the throne as King Ludwig II of Bavaria without any experience of life or politics, but the attractive King was loved by the people and adored by women.

Neuschwanstein Germany: Neuschwanstein Castle provides a fascinating glimpse into the king's state of mind. Ludwig aimed to build Neuschwanstein in Bavaria in the authentic style of old German knights' castles and started working on Neuschwanstein in Germany in 1869.
As fan of German legends and Wagner's operas Ludwig decorated Neuschwanstein Castle with scenes of the poetic world of the Middle Ages, but spent himself only 170 days in Neuschwanstein Bavaria.

On 13th June 1986 he drowned in Lake Starnberg under mysterious circumstances. Was it suicide, accident or murder?
The secret archives are still closed. Neuschwanstein in Germany was not completed till his early death, so Ludwig never saw the Neuschwanstein Castle as it is nowadays.
