The Rugen Island has countless beautiful destinations worth visiting. Be it Cape Arkona as the northernmost point of the island or the famous chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park.

A must is the ferry ride from Schaprode to the island of Hiddensee, a little island without cars or hassle. On a walk or carriage ride to the Hiddensee Lighthouse you will be impressed by the old villages and the beautiful landscape, where many poets and artists have withdrawn for working.

Do you know Germany's most successful open-air theater? Every year from late June to early September the Störtebeker Festival takes place at the stage of Ralswiek on Rugen Island. In an elaborate and impressive spectacle the legend of the pirate Klaus Störtebeker is played.

A real attraction and great way to discover Rugen is a ride on the historic steam railway "Rasender Roland ". Since 1895 the train has been operating with a maximum speed of 30 km/h between Putbus, Binz, Sellin, and Baabe Göhren on the Rugen Island.
