The English Theatre Berlin is the centre for English-language theatre in the German capital and offers a wide variety of shows including the classics, new writing, physical theatre, and comedy, with a large number of these productions being visiting companies from many countries.

ETB´s programme reflects developments and tendencies of the international theatre scene and in the past has included numerous award-winning productions.

ETB works very closely together with a growing international artistic community in Berlin and co-produces work with emerging young theatre makers from all over the world who are now residing in Berlin.

It was founded in 1990 under the name Friends of Italian Opera (which has since been changed to a more informative one). The development from a multilingual venue to Berlin´s only English-language theatre venue in 1993 was warmly accepted by the public and supported by the city of Berlin, who continues to support ETB to date.
